What is
Mass Production?
Mass production is the manufacturing system used to
produce large quantities of
a product at a low cost. Henry Ford was popularized mass production with
his Ford Model T in the early 20th Century, selling 10 million by 1924.
He did this by first
experimenting with power-driven conveyor systems, which carried
subassemblies to the workers at a correct height and speed, each worker
then performed a specialized assembly task at a fixed workstation.
